In your role as the Compensation Analyst, at The North West Company (NWC), you’re accountable to the Manager, Compensation for analysis, design, and administration of compensation programs as it relates to both Canadian and International operations.

Accountable for base salary and hourly wage administration programs, standard and ad hoc reporting, effective record keeping, ensuring compliance with legislation and providing recommendations for change;
Accountable for the administration of bonus, incentive and retention programs for Canadian and international operations;
In conjunction with the Manager, Compensation, design and implement recognition programs;
As assigned, conduct research, market surveys and analysis of Canadian and international compensation programs report on findings and prepare recommendations for change;
Deploy quantitative concepts and statistical tools in the research, analysis, and management of compensation programs;
Perform job evaluation analysis, prepare recommendations, and ensure effective ongoing maintenance of internal and external relativities. Ensure compliance with legislation as it relates to pay equity and fair pay principles;
Create and maintain all assigned metrics, prepare analysis and reports, and benchmark against external organizations;
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of compensation strategies, programs, policies and services to management and employees;
Conduct, participate in, and analyze ad hoc market surveys, and focus on market competitiveness in reporting findings and the preparation of recommendations;
Develop a network of external compensation practitioners to facilitate ad hoc surveys and mutual sharing of appropriate information; and
Accountable for compensation table maintenance within the HRMS and conduct ad-hoc reporting.
Desired Skills & Experience:
4-6 years’ related human resource experience or post-secondary diploma/degree/certificate in a business related discipline combined with 2 years’ related compensation experience;
Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to apply statistical methods, accounting principles, and procedures;
Advanced skills in computer software programs including Excel and Word, and intermediate skills in PowerPoint;
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills;
Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
Must have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong written communication skills;
Must be highly motivated with proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills;
Ability to effectively manage time and adjust priorities as it relates to multiple projects, tasks, and assignments while adhering to key deadlines; and
Willingness to continue enhancing education to maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in the field of compensation and relevant legislation.
