CPS HR Consulting has an opening for someone with extensive experience and knowledge in public sector classification and compensation, who can manage a broad range of classification and compensation projects for clients within California and across the United States. The position can be located in Sacramento, or anywhere within the state of California. The incumbent will function as a team lead and project manager, and will serve as the main point of contact with public sector client agencies – addressing and evaluating current classification and/or compensation issues and developing solutions that are tailored to meet the needs of the individual client. This position requires approximately 15-20% travel.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES include but are not limited to:
Coordinate and direct the efforts of a team of consultants and support staff on a project basis, including the assignment, training, and guidance of team members.
Consult and guide clients in developing and implementing classification and compensation solutions that are creative and tailored to the individual client and result in greater organizational effectiveness.
Maintain ongoing communication with client agencies and potential client agencies, building and maintaining collaborative, and constructive relationships with clients, so that clients view you and CPS HR as a valuable resource for current and future needs.
Be an active participant in identifying projects to pursue and developing responsive proposals and other marketing materials.
Review, revise, and approve client deliverables prepared by team members – ensuring quality and accuracy.
Prepare cost estimates and schedules for projects and monitor budgets.
Draft and/or prepare detailed narrative, technical, and statistical reports.
Make presentations to prospective clients, client representatives, and client governing bodies such as City Councils, and Boards of Directors, etc.
Represent CPS HR with clients, particularly through groups and associations.
EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field is required, Master’s degree preferred. Certification as a Certified Compensation Professional is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in human resources, including public sector classification and compensation. Must be able to serve as an effective project manager on multiple projects; motivate and manage project teams; monitor project budgets; and build and maintain constructive working relationships. Additionally, must have excellent customer service, leadership, presentation, and written and oral communication skills, be collaborative, and have a high attention to detail.
