The Head of Center of Expertise (CoE) – Total Rewards at Stanford Health Care (SHC) is a strategic role designed to continuously improve employee experience related to compensation and benefits and support SHC in positioning its employer brand in the market.
This role entails leading the Total Rewards CoE in the design of new HR programs and policies related to compensation and benefits, including vendor selection and management, to support the SHC employee value proposition. As such, the CoE Lead will bring thought leadership, innovation, and vision to stretch the organization’s thinking and position SHC to be a market leader and be attractive to current and future employees. The CoE Lead will also bring leadership and mentorship the Total Rewards CoE to ensure it delivers in line with the overall business and people strategy. The CoE lead will have deep expertise in one or more HR functions related to Total Rewards, combined with a breadth of expertise across HR to advise and contribute to strategic people initiatives and program development priorities across HR.
Brings deep thought leadership, insights, and new ideas related to Total Rewards based on innovation and trends in the marketplace
Brings a proactive and forward-looking perspective, related to not only Total Rewards, but people-related initiatives as a whole to help guide the broader HR Leadership Team in shaping the SHC People agenda and HR priorities
Leads the Total Rewards CoE team providing strategic direction, supervision, and coaching to develop others and enable performance
Ensures all activities in the Total Rewards CoE reflect business needs, external trends, and are grounded in SHC people strategy
Reviews and monitors value delivered by the Total Rewards CoE
Collaborates with the various CoEs on decision making, management of dependencies and risk, and project prioritization
Understands the impact of Total Rewards CoE programs on employee experience and collaborates with others to manage dependencies and ensure successful deployment
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge across HR, with deep expertise in Total Rewards (e.g., compensation, benefits, vendor management, ROI analysis)
Ability to understand impact of HR initiatives on employee lifecycle and determine priority across CoE projects and proposals
Experience developing and implementing HR programs related to Total Rewards
Ability to design and use analytics to monitor deployed Total Rewards programs and identify proactive areas of improvements
Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with HRBPs and the business to better reflect their needs in new programs
Demonstrated ability to guide experienced team members and communicate program goals clearly to both HR and business stakeholders
Demonstrated customer-orientation, including ability to identify and target pain points for the business
Demonstrated understanding of market trends and leading practice related to Total Rewards, as well as for HR as a whole
