The PetSmart Human Resources Department is looking for someone with drive and enthusiasm to join the Compensation Team and take on the role of Compensation Analyst. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to work independently in a fun and fast paced environment on cross functional teams. This role will provide analytical support for a wide range of compensation projects and programs designed to support business strategies and the PetSmart stores.
Provides complex analytical support of data gathering, reporting, planning and implementing of new and existing compensation programs and incentive plan designs and processes.
Performs complex calculations of new and existing incentive plan designs using Microsoft Access and/or Excel.
Conducts and participates in competitive surveys and studies labor market to determine compensation trends.
Researches, documents, and maintains market information and minimum wage changes using systematic processes.
Assists in the communication of compensation plans and incentive programs.
Interprets local, state, and federal laws regulating compensation practices.
Works cross-functionally on projects related to compensation.
Provides ad hoc reports as needed from multiple platforms.
Participates in testing systems for new functionality, applications, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and three to five years professional experience in Compensation, Finance or related field in a retail or multi-unit organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Must have experience with relational databases (Access, SQL, Oracle). Able to demonstrate quantitative reasoning ability and statistical analysis.
Strong attention to detail and analytical ability, including cost modeling, policy and practice evaluation and spreadsheet development.
Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
Strong organization and project management skills
Ability to effectively communicate with business partners across all levels of the organization.
Able to demonstrate high degree of accuracy processing all salary information
Experience with systems applications, i.e. SAP, Access, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SQL, etc
