Performs complex professional exempt level administrative, technical and analytical work related to the District's classification and compensation programs and services. Performs confidential human resource functions and administers material and information of a sensitive nature maintaining the highest level of confidentiality with respect to meeting and conferring. Conducts job classification reviews, performs market pricing and complex job evaluation/job analysis; conducts statistical analysis of compensation data; creates job family framework, levels, and career paths; develops and/or revises job classification descriptions; determines FLSA exempt or nonexempt status; performs compensation-related training and other duties related to Classification and Compensation.
30% - Conducts job classification reviews by analyzing position analysis questionnaires and other related documentation through reorganization and classification review requests; conducts desk audits and interviews employees and supervisors; classifies new and existing job classifications; performs market pricing and job evaluation while adhering to the Compensation philosophy; consults with, and advises managers regarding redesign/design of job classifications; determines comparability of job classifications; conducts statistical analysis of compensation data; prepares analytical reports reflecting survey findings; recommends pay grades and salary pay plan adjustments; analyzes data utilizing compensation methodologies and statistics; interpreting salary data, performs analysis; calculates salary planning costs; and leads, develops, conducts and participates in salary surveys, as required.
20% - Creates job family framework, levels, and career paths; develops generic job class descriptions to accurately describe job content; recommends changes and maintains job documentation, job class description databases/tables and related job codes and job families; analyzes positions to determine FLSA exempt or nonexempt status.
15% - Maintains compensation databases as assigned; recommends data integrity procedures, supervises and leads HR data collection as assigned and coordinates the running of HR data queries to extract compensation and other HR information using advanced level excel/database formulas such as VLookup Tables; conducts detailed research, analysis and evaluation related to assigned duties; provides research and recommendations into Compensation policies; provides consultation and technical guidance on compensation related matters to alt levels within the organization; and develops and disseminates management reports on salary inequity, average salary/per grade, and various other reports involving compensation and/or classification.
15% - Interprets classification actions, compensation policies, practices and guidelines; advises managers and employees on compensation policies; writes, edits, and modifies internal operating guidelines and procedures, as appropriate; assists in the development and execution of classification and compensation policies and procedures and prepares and places informational materials on the HR website.
10% - Prepares supporting data and provides input to annual compensation structure and policy changes.
10% - May supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff; performs compensation-related training; keeps abreast of trends in classification and compensation for classification systems; serves as a contributing member on various committees and task forces, and performs special projects as assigned; performs other duties as assigned.
