The Director of Benefits is responsible for designing, implementing and communicating cost effective and competitive benefit programs to attract and retain employees in the U.S. and Canada.
Aligns benefit programs to business strategy and objectives.
Recommends changes to senior leaders to ensure benefit programs remain cost effective and competitive, meet the needs of a diverse workforce, and are in compliance with all legal requirements.
Selects and manages vendors to ensure benefit programs are administered properly and in the most cost efficient manner. Monitors vendor performance in accordance with service level agreements.
Understands all financial aspects of benefit programs including the development of fringe rates and price tags, forecasting, and the impact to the P&L and balance sheet.
Participates in national union negotiations related to benefit programs.
Leads and facilitates rewards committees with fiduciary responsibilities related to administrative and investment matters.
Performs due diligence activities for potential acquisitions, and leads integration activities of acquisitions.
Keeps current on benefit trends in the U.S. and Canada.
Develops annual schedules for plan design, implementation, communications, and financial forecasts.
Coordinates benefit program changes with Rewards Services to ensure administrative capability.
Manages a staff of two benefits professionals, including staffing, performance management, task delegation, work planning and salary review.
Manages and plans capacity of self and team using project management tools.
