Summary: The Corporate Director, H&W Benefits is responsible for ensuring the Company retains competitive, cost effective and compliant benefit programs that meet the corporate objectives of cost effective and sustainable programs providing high quality benefit plans and services to Associates. Guide medical and health related benefits policies and strategies throughout the organization. Directs the planning, design and compliant administration of the Company-sponsored employee benefit plans. Includes management of health benefits, leave of absence programs, life and disability insurances, supplemental programs and wellness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following for all of RNDC and NDC. Other duties may be assigned.
Management of ERISA qualified medical plans, non-qualified supplemental insurance, and other related activities to support the continuing growth of the organization.
Provide leadership in the development of strategic recommendations for benefit program design, administration and funding.
Provide leadership and assistance in the development and implementation of all outsourcing initiatives.
Provide leadership, support, guidance and direction to personnel working in the benefits department.
Manage medical broker / consultant relationship as well as all third party providers / carriers to maximize benefits, ensure alignment with company strategy, and minimize costs.
Provide oversight of benefit-related processes and procedures, monitors and report Manages all drafts / reviews / updates of plan documents and associate communications.
Provide oversight of benefit-related technologies; responsible for flawless execution and continuous improvement.
Monitor controls and procedures to ensure benefit plans are designed and delivered in a compliant and fiscally efficient manner. Determine, develop and obtain approval for benefit plan changes/new plans or services, oversees implementation of approved
Ensures compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, USERRA, Section 125 and other federal, state and local laws as applicable.
Works closely with outside counsel to ensure overall compliance.
Participates in union negotiations and merger & acquisitions due diligence / integration activities from a benefits perspective.
Work with business units and other internal departments and/or external providers to communicate benefits. Responsible for leading resolution of benefit issues in accordance with plan provisions.
Work with the business units and executive management to establish short and long term objectives and strategies, including financial performance, for the Company's benefits programs.
Reviews effectiveness of current programs and recommends revision and / or design changes. Actively leads all related RFPs and requests for information.
Assist on projects and initiatives as assigned.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university preferred; or ten + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing and leading a professional Benefits Team is required.
Language, Reasoning, and Math Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of WORD and PowerPoint software and Excel spreadsheet software. Must have the ability to successfully administer and navigate third-party web-based HR software solutions. Experience with HRIS and ATS solutions is required.
Certificates and Licenses: Prefer SHRM or Benefits Certification.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises a professional benefits team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Travel: There is about 20% travel required for the position.
