Job Title:  Analyst, Employee Compensation and Workforce Planning

Starting Salary: $ 73,708.00 +

Compensation offers are evaluated based on a combination of education, experience, qualifications, and other pertinent factors such as internal equity.

Reports To: Assistant Vice President, Human Resources

Job Summary

The analyst for employee compensation and workforce planning is responsible for assisting department leadership in the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the HR function of the University. This position oversees the administration and design of compensation programs and workforce analysis initiatives.

Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Determines appropriate pay levels and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) classifications; assesses the budgetary impact of compensation decisions and provides oversight of compliance with regulations and labor laws
  • Establishes internally equitable compensation rates while keeping in line with the external market; evaluates and analyzes jobs in response to requests for new or revised job descriptions
  • Conducts research and analysis in different areas involving compensation such as compensation statistics and market analysis; plans, develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies, and procedures
  • Facilitates faculty and staff raise increase process, reviews raise recommendations
  • Ensures through audits, legal reports and personal interactions that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with University policies and government regulations
  • Performs related analyses such as cost projections
  • Provides oversight for position control and adherence to personnel budget
  • Establishes guidelines for collecting and analyzing employee data related appropriate staffing levels
  • Develops Workday Adaptive Insights and Workforce Planning to accurately assess current competition and forecast future demand for qualified professionals

  • Builds rapport with customers, communicating in a concise, customer-focused manner
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with faculty, staff, colleagues, and students; provides leadership in creating and maintaining cohesiveness within the division

Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Provides guidance and education to HR liaisons and department managers on pay decisions, salary offers, policy and guideline interpretation and job evaluation
  • Collaborates with managers to determine staffing needs, designs and adjusts salary structures and compensation packages, and develops policies and procedures
  • Prepares and distributes timely and thorough communications related to compensation and the workforce strategy and implementation
  • Supports University leaders by conducting staffing-related research and data analysis aimed at aligning workforce needs with University initiatives
  • Guides HR leaders on workforce strategies based on researched trends, data, analytics, and insights
  • Prepares reports or summaries and presents findings to senior management, for use in strategic decision making or planning

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Master’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ prior relevant work experience
  • CCP from World at Work organization preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ higher education experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel skills

  • Demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to HR and compensation programs, including knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Analytical skills to facilitate understanding and application of research and statistics in report writing and decision making
  • Ability to prioritize multiple goals with competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in providing compensation program administration consultation to HR liaisons and managers
