As the Director of Employee Health and  Benefits, the incumbent directs the strategy, design, and development of employee benefit programs, policies and practices which position Premier Health to attract and retain a diverse workforce.  This role will ensure benefit programs support the health and well-being of our employees and align with the strategic objectives of the organization, while being market competitive and compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to plan and direct the day-to-day operations of group health and welfare benefits programs, which include a section 125 cafeteria plan, group health, wellness, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, group term life and AD&D insurance, health savings and flexible spending plans, and various voluntary benefits. This role is also responsible for administration of the retirement program, which includes a defined benefit pension plan, qualified defined contribution plans and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.   Additionally, this position oversees a high-quality employee health services program to ensure a safe working environment for employees that complies with government regulations, OSHA and other regulatory bodies.

The Director continually investigates new and innovative benefits programs, regularly benchmarks and improves existing programs, and manages all communication and related change efforts to promote employee adoption and engagement.  The Director of Benefits will support the VP, HR, Support Services in collaboration with the HR leadership team to drive continuous improvement within the HR function, drawing on external and internal best practices and leading-edge HR thinking on benefits initiatives.



Requirements

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree                                  

Additional requirements:

    • Type of degree: Human Resources, Healthcare Administration or related area of study
    • Area of study or major: Human Resources Management preferred
    • Preferred educational qualifications: Master’s Prepared

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • SHRM, CBP, or CEBS certification preferred

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 7 - 10  years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Minimum of 7 years leading a benefits function including design and implementation; experience in administering health and welfare plans, leave programs and overseeing retirement/pension administration; management experience in benefits and human resources; proven experience in successfully partnering with key stakeholders including Finance, Legal, and third party administrators, benefit vendors and brokers to ensure appropriate management of benefits across the organization; experience managing large scale budgets including annual forecasting.    

Prior specific functional responsibilities: Health and Welfare Benefits, Retirement/Pension, and Employee Health.

Preferred experience: Employee benefits/pension responsibility for large scale health care organization and experience managing Employee Health functions at multiple sites.

Other experience requirements: MS Office and HRIS experience required
