Position Description: Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is a major global investment organization with a global workforce of 1,500, working on behalf of 20 million CPP contributors and beneficiaries. As CPPIB continues to expand its global presence and build out its operations worldwide, we are looking for a Senior Advisor, Global Mobility for Toronto headquarters. The position reports to the Manager, Global Mobility and is part of the Total Rewards team. The successful hire will be a superb contributor who enjoys managing all aspects of the mobility experience for a diverse and growing population of employees.
As part of the Global Mobility team, the person in this role will be involved with supporting CPPIB’s mobility needs, which includes mobility program management and immigration case management for new hires and existing employees. This person will work in tandem with Total Rewards colleagues, HR Business Partners, Recruiters and external advisors globally. With Global Mobility an important aspect of our talent development culture, the role will have a significant impact in enhancing our employee value proposition and advancing our competitive advantage as an employer. Role-Specific Accountabilities
Partner with candidates, employees, and various groups in HR to provide high touch global mobility support and counselling.
Work with external legal counsel and HR colleagues to manage immigration case files.
Partner with external partners (RMC, immigration counsel, tax advisors, etc.) throughout assignment, relocation or immigration process to ensure employee and organizational needs are met.
Organize and manage information and processes for global foreign worker population.
Maintain accurate records to ensure global immigration compliance in all offices.
Active member and participant in short-term business travel project.
Act as a subject matter expert on global mobility at CPPIB, and continuously enhance specialized knowledge through industry forums and professional development.
Manage mobility approval process, including preparation of cost estimates for business review.
Administrative process support including, drafting of assignment letters, extensions, exception requests, etc.
Contributes to development of Global Mobility strategy by providing insights and raising issues to Manager.
Reviews, suggests and implements improvements to existing HR or GM processes.
Active participant in special projects, analysis and other duties, as required.
Genuine interest and passion for field of global mobility. Keen to grow and develop in this function by broadening skills and taking on more responsibility over time.
Stellar customer service orientation. Experience as an expat or assignee is a definite plus.
Positive attitude, and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment.
Tenacity, can-do attitude, ability to learn quickly, and team-player who is capable of managing complex and competing priorities well.
Problem solver, with ability to accurately identify issues, examine various options, and drive optimal solutions.
5 years+ of global mobility experience gained from the corporate environment, coupled with experience in HR from investment management, financial or professional services sector or comparable industry.
Undergraduate degree or relevant work experience, ideally with a professional designation such as GMS, CHRP or CERP an asset.
Proven experience managing complex immigration cases inside of an HR department, ideally with expertise in the locations in which we operate.
Advanced technical skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
Analytical and superior ability to come to sound decisions on complex issues, with tact and consideration to sensitive and urgent issues.
Able to work in a high performing team and who can also work independently.
Advanced written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels throughout the organization.
