Leads the design/implementation of division-level compensation programs and serves as a subject matter expert in organization-wide compensation projects that enable the attraction and retention of top talent at Clemson University. Design efforts include development, implementation, and compliance of various compensation programs by partnering with senior leaders across the University and within HR to effectively define problems, develop solutions, and implement action plans for key compensation initiatives. JOB DUTIES:
Strategy and Partnering: 25% - Essential Design, develop and implement University compensation programs, policies and procedures to support the University's Total Rewards strategy of attracting and retaining top talent in alignment with the Clemson Forward strategy. Consults with internal stakeholders regarding compensation policies and procedures, compensation program communications and training, program metrics, survey management, and reporting.
Broad-Based Compensation Management and Operations: 25% - Essential Ensures compensation programs are competitive, control costs by managing program design, and streamlines processes/systems necessary for sustainable programs. Partners with business unit HR teams and management to develop, revise and audit the job descriptions for hourly, salaried, and management positions (including appropriate title, salary grade, pay level, job code, EEO and FLSA classication, etc.). Identify and resolve systemic issues related to workforce planning, job design or compensation analysis to more effectively reinforce the the University's pay for performance philosophy. Responsible for business unit incentive design and implementation and assists with organizational restructures. Implements and maintains market data collection and analysis tools. Implements and maintains market data collection and analysis tools in order to support the execution of compensation and performance management programs.
Internal Consulting and Communications: 20% - Essential Partner with the HR Service Center team to design and develop functional reports and metrics. Review and analyze information to drive HR Team performance, identify trends, and develop/implement functional improvements, escalating issues and proposed solutions as appropriate. Assist management in the compensation center of excellence (COE) and HR Service Center with the execution of compliance programs, internal audits, external audits, and government audits. Work with team to review and assist with the ongoing development, evaluation, and maintenance of documentation (e.g., standard operating procedures, work instructions) to ensure complete, accurate, and up-to-date depiction of processes.
Finance and Analytics: 15% - Essential Collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine companys market relationship using automated compensation pricing tools; participate in compensation studies, market surveys, data reporting, and related activities as needed. Utilize data and metrics about company's compensation policies to prepare analytical reports for management decision making.
Compliance: 15% - Essential Assists in the design and oversight of the Universitys governance and operating model for compensation programs to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Maintains knowledge of current state and federal regulations or legislation impacting pay practices. Makes recommendations to maintain compliance and assesses organizational impact of necessary policy/procedure changes. Solid understanding of federal and state regulations governing compensation and employment including: Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Pay Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
