Jefferson Science Associates LLC (JSA), the Management and Operations contractor for the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF) is recruiting for a critical member of the Human Resources team. TJNAF is a world-leading nuclear physics research center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) with an annual operating budget in excess of $100M and 740 employees working on a modern 160 acre research campus in Newport News, Virginia.
The Senior Compensation Analyst manages, designs and administers the Jefferson Science Associates (JSA) compensation program in alignment with Jefferson Lab's Strategic goals. This critical role provides analysis, advice, guidance and recommendations to all levels of the organization, including senior management.
Responsibilities include all aspects of compensation:
Policy development and interpretation
Compliance (DOE, DOL & OFCCP)
Annual compensation plan design and program modifications
Leads the salary administration and promotion process
Classification and promotion determinations
Market analysis and compensation surveys
Study labor market to determine compensation trends and advise senior management
Reports and all other compensation issues
Review existing compensation policies, program, reporting, and other initiatives, make recommendations, and implement best in class solutions.
Additionally, the incumbent is expected to become a subject matter expert on the Human Resources aspects of the contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) as well as other applicable regulations, orders and directives.
This role must successfully partner with other key Lab functions including Recruitment, Benefits, Payroll, MIS, as well as line management.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience directly related to compensation
Significant experience in the management and administration of compensation programs
CCP certification preferred
Experience in the use of HRIS, and other Human Resources related databases
Experience in a research and development environment as well as government contracting is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of compensation principles and theory
Thorough knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other applicable compensation related laws and regulations
Excellent analytic and quantitative skills
Excellent writing, communication and negotiation skills
Highly skilled in the use of MS Excel
