This position is responsible for administering compensation programs, policies and procedures for Charles Machine Works. He/she will be an integral part of planning, developing and implementing new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures that align with company objectives and competitive practices. This position will manage the day-to-day activities of the compensation function to support our overall Total Rewards Strategy with direction and guidance from the Director of Corporate Human Resources.
Keeps abreast of compensation best practices.
Provides expertise and research to help design new and revised compensation programs or assist in other areas within HR (Benefits, Retirement or HRIS). This may include: incentive options; merit pay; commissions; profit sharing; job offer details; stock options; overtime guidelines; and employee classifications.
Assists in developing policy and procedures documentation and communications to support new and/or revised programs.
Develops and distributes communication tools which help HR, hiring managers, employees and applicants understand the overall value of their total compensation package.
Administers the day-to-day tasks of managing compensation programs, policies and procedures which includes:
Job Evaluations to include review of recommended job titles and grade levels for consistency across companies.
Job description creation and training.
Assessing internal and external market data and recommending necessary range structure movement to ensure desired competitive market position is maintained.
Creating, maintaining, and distributing policy and supporting documentation.
Participating in third party salary surveys.
Manage various cross-functional compensation related projects and reviews.
Creates compensation related communications for company Presidents, human resources, managers, and employees.
Performs routine audits to analyze data and ensure compliance.
Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Primarily office environment.
Dynamic, fast-paced workplace with varying workloads and priorities.
Normal work schedule. However, critical deadlines or workload may sometimes require extended work hours in order to complete the job.
Occasional filing requiring the ability to lift up to 10 pounds repetitiously.
Extensive use of computer and phone.
Occasional air and highway travel may be required

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field required. CCP preferred but not required.
Experience substantially supporting a company’s compensation program. Typically indicated by at least 5 years of in-depth, hands-on development and administration.
HR Generalist experience is desirable.
Willingness to assume responsibilities in various disciplines of HR as needed.
Working knowledge of Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other Human Resources regulations.
Experience with external market analysis and thorough understanding of market data interpretation.
A strong understanding of monitoring and measuring compensation strategy effectiveness.
Strong mathematical, analytical, critical thinking and problem solving
Fluent with Microsoft Office products and comfortable navigating the internet. SAP or SuccessFactors experience would be a plus.
Must be capable of multi-tasking and working independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to switch gears quickly to adapt to changing situations.
Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and trust in all matters related to employee compensation.
