The Compensation Specialist plays a key role to support the alignment of Husky’s total rewards objectives with overall business goals. This role is accountable for providing expertise and support for compensation programs globally for base pay and variable pay as well as providing analysis, modelling and advice to ensure our compensation programs align with Husky’s business strategies and our compensation philosophy. As a member of the Total Rewards Centre of Expertise, the role is accountable for collaborating and communicating with the HR community, Finance community and business team leaders. Key areas of responsibility include executing compensation related projects impacting our compensation programs globally.
Conduct market pricing for executive and non-executive jobs and provide compensation recommendations for salary offers, promotions and transfers in accordance with appropriate compensation guidelines and policy.
Actively participate in the design, implementation and management of competitive compensation programs.
Provide compensation support to a global network of HR Business Partners as subject matter expert.
Conduct standard and ad-hoc analytics and reporting on existing and proposed compensation programs, including analyzing compensation trends, analyzing "what-if" scenarios, and developing costing models to determine the financial impact of salary and incentive plan changes
Conduct research on compensation practices and policies, assisting in design of compensation policy and guidelines.
Participate in development and delivery of key messages, communications and educational material related to implementation of programs, contributing to educate HR Business Partners and business leaders and promote understanding of global compensation programs.
Review and recommend enhancements to current processes.
Year-End Cycle Delivery
Deliver compensation processes including annual merit cycle, off-cycle salary increase reviews and short-term incentive programs for all countries where we operate globally, including analyzing data, developing processes, tools, guidelines and communications for team members, team leaders and HR Business Partners.
Manage and administer the compensation planning/decision making tool in PeopleSoft including analytical and documentation support for the year-end process.
Provide training to managers as needed on year end compensation process
Conduct salary market analyses and ad-hoc salary market studies to determine company’s market positioning and develop salary structure proposal recommendations for countries where we operate globally.
Lead annual market salary surveys submissions, staying abreast of compensation trends and relevant year-over-year market changes and acting as a point of contact for external consulting companies.
Provide expert support in job pricing making recommendations to ensure external competitiveness in alignment with pay philosophy.
Lead the delivery of job evaluation process to ensure internal equity including reviewing organizational structure proposals and working with HR Business Partners to assess new or restructured roles.
Participate in delivery of job evaluation training sessions for HR Business Partners and business leaders to ensure knowledge transfer.
Contribute to ensure job evaluation governance ensuring application of global job evaluation framework to support internal equity and external competitiveness.
Develop and maintain job evaluation documentation.
Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience with with a minimum of 5 years of specialized combined experience in compensation and job evaluation.
CCP or GRP certification is an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of compensation and incentive programs.
Proficiency with MS Office, and highly skilled in application and knowledge of Excel is required. Note: Candidates will be required to take a test using Excel as part of the selection process
Experience with Job Evaluation System(s); experience with the Mercer iPE Job Evaluation System is an asset.
Experience with Executive and/or Sales Compensation is an asset.
Experience administering compensation with PeopleSoft is an asset
Excellent communication skills and the ability to summarize information concisely and present in written, graphical and/or verbal format in order to convey complex information to all levels of stakeholders
Previous experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment is an asset
