JOB OVERVIEW The Director, Benefits will lead the design, development and delivery of a comprehensive benefit strategy including health and welfare and retirement programs to attract, retain and engage Darden team members. Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues and ensures plans are compliant; implements process, product or service improvements and safeguards. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. As a member of the Total Rewards leadership team, this role will significantly influence the design of the overall Total Rewards strategy for the organization and be accountable for best practice benefit processes and all financial aspects of Darden's benefit programs.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Oversees design, development and administration of health, welfare, retirement and well-being plans for employees. -Recruits, directs and coaches benefits team in completion of goals, including plan design, day-to-day administration, and open enrollment process. -Identifies opportunities and consults with leadership to develop and implement benefit plans to meet specific long and short-term objectives. -Oversees request for proposal (RFP) process to ensure potential vendors and products are compliant with federal and state regulations, and potential changes/additions/omissions offer maximum quality and value to both the company and employee. -Oversees risk management, governance and compliance for all benefit plans including government filings, audits and associate communications. -Directs the management of third-party sources/vendors responsible for benefit services and benefit plans, including costing and compliance. -Collaborates with HRIS and external vendors to ensure current and future system configuration appropriately manages benefit information. -Develops and oversees departmental and individual plan budgets for health, welfare, and retirement plans. -Develops and maintains internal metrics and dashboards to gauge and measure the performance of plans and processes -Plans and executes conversion/integration of benefits for acquired companies -Projects and monitors plan performance/efficiency/costs, and works with Finance to ensure that appropriate budget estimates and accruals are in place
REQUIRED EDUCATION -Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 10 -15 years of proven employee benefits experience
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS -Thorough understanding of legal requirements, regulatory issues relating to employee benefits plan design and process, vendor management and well-being strategies -Demonstrated competence in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management, and prioritizing initiatives/opportunities based on investments and financial returns. -Excellent project management skills -Strategic focus and experience leading benefit redesign efforts in a large Fortune company environment -Abreast of changing regulatory environment; familiar with strategies and solutions for a large, non-exempt workforce -Proven experience in leading collaborative project teams; highly adaptable to a complex environment; strong communicator; initiates new ideas, as well as delivers what is requested. -Comfortable leveraging influencing skills as a key method to gain alignment and momentum for initiatives. -Demonstrated people leadership skills and a track record of success in managing and developing teams. -Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams
