As Compensation Analyst, you will work to ensure that the IEEE Human Resources department provides effective analytical, technical, and operational support for compensation program activities and projects. Primary responsibilities will include evaluating, benchmarking and pricing jobs; compensation data analysis; maintenance; documentations; and reporting and administration of compensation program activities.
Job Evaluation, Pricing, and Analysis
Formats, proofreads, and edits job descriptions. Evaluates jobs using available market data to assign the band and pay range of the position.
Loads job templates, returns contribution, and approves requisitions for open positions in Taleo.
Independently conducts job evaluations for small-scale department reorganizations and assists with large-scale job evaluations and other functional group reviews.
Participates in full length compensation and salary budget surveys; prepares salary data for submission, matches IEEE positions to survey benchmarks, maintains documentation on IEEE participation and survey reports, and analyzes results.
Acts as an administrator for the Kenexa CompAnalyst survey management system; Works with vendor to complete data workbooks, loads and updates survey results, tests system enhancements, etc.
Identifies comparable positions for use in internal equity analyses for pay reviews and salary offers. Reviews and approves standard salary offers for open US and global office positions below the Director level. Reviews exceptions with Manager, Compensation and/or Director, Compensation & Benefits.
Evaluates annual summer intern rates for currency and market competitiveness.
Reporting, Systems, and Analytics
Creates, updates, and runs various compensation data and tracking reports e.g. promotion reports, compensation change reports, company jobs report, etc.
Creates and updates job codes, maintains job and pay data, imports files, and runs reports in HRIS and survey management systems.
Provides statistics and various trend analyses for HR Dashboard, board reports, and other OU requests.
Serves as Liferay Administrator for compensation webpage on the intranet; Creates, edits, and maintains content.
Serves as DocuSign Administrator; Maintains documentation templates, distribution lists, and monitors electronic signatures of pay notices, promotion letters, assignment letters and similar documents.
Gathers requirements and validates data files for HRIS and survey system integrations, configuration changes, and upgrades.
Salary and Incentive Bonus Administration
Assists in configuring system and data cleanups in preparation for annual compensation planning.
Audits submissions for accuracy and compliance to guidelines.
Prepares data transfer from comp module to Core HR and submits master files to payroll for processing.
Assists in the preparation of EBCC reports.
Monitors email traffic in the compensation shared mailbox, files correspondences in appropriate folders, and if necessary, forwards emails to appropriate parties.
Reviews requests for promotions, job changes, and compensation changes in HRIS system, monitors approval workflow, and ensures processing of transactions in time for payroll deadline.
Records promotion announcements in Inside IEEE and HR deliverable reports.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other relevant field.
Minimum 4 years experience in human resources, preferably in the compensation function.
Must possess or be willing to earn Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification.
Skills & Other Requirements:
Demonstrated skill in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
Ability to perform research, gather data, make conclusions, and utilize results to create meaningful analytical tools and reports, to create efficient plans and processes, to document and communicate information, and improve the IEEE and the HR Department through continuous process improvement.
Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly confidential environment.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills; ability to educate managers on compensation policies and clearly explain compensation recommendations and decisions. He/she will write informational training / process documentation and edit job descriptions. Writing must be clear and concise and presented in a manner that is easily understood by highly educated individuals for whom English is a second language, including members of the Employee Benefits & Compensation Committee (EBCC), a standing committee of the IEEE Board of Directors. He/she may be asked to create content for the HR Web page.
Professionalism, functional competency, the ability to establish rapport quickly, and a customer satisfaction orientation are key components of the interpersonal skills required to be successful in this position.
Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges. Proficiency in MS Office applications especially Excel, Google environment (Gmail, Google drive, Google calendar, etc.), HRIS system, online comp planning, onboarading tools, and survey management systems preferably Oracle Fusion, Taleo, Kenexa CompAnalyst and reporting tools. Must be able to navigate systems, maintain, import, and export data, and run reports.
Must stay current on related updates, trends and regulatory changes, as well as changes to the IEEE operational, financial and strategic plans in order to understand their ramifications and translate them to required actions.
Must be able to function in a self-motivated manner while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
