Our client, a well-recognized publicly-traded national leader in its industry is seeking a Director, Total Rewards to join its Human Resources Team.
Director, Total Rewards
Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, the Director, Total Rewards is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive total rewards strategies (compensation, benefits, incentive programs, pension and perquisites) that align employee rewards with results that support the company’s business objectives. The focus of the role includes ensuring successful delivery of broad based and executive compensation strategies and incentives, benefit and wellness programs, and other reward programs that will enable the company to attract, reward, and retain top talent.
The Director Total Rewards will conduct and participate in compensation surveys and analyze survey data results, benchmark and ensure competitiveness for compensation programs; perform the annual salary review process and bonus payout calculation; conduct job analysis and evaluation for salary administration; obtain all necessary information to prepare compensation proposals, budgets, and reports; create, plan, and implement new incentive programs while preparing accurate bonus accruals, and perform calculations on all annual incentive bonuses. Additionally, the successful candidate will administer company executive compensation programs, including executive salary surveys, annual bonus and long-term incentive programs and track Total Unitholder Return and estimate PEUs payout on a quarterly basis.
The Director Total Rewards will also be responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual Management Information Circular; managing and providing expertise in equity plan maintenance programs; providing input with respect to market compensation policies and best practices in assisting with the HRCC and Board materials preparation, monitoring legislative compliance on policies and procedures and educating employees about their Total Rewards.
Through the Total Rewards team, the Director will have direct oversight for the payroll function, manage the Group Benefits Plan including liaising with the provider and negotiating premium rates; oversee the company’s long-term and short-term disability programs and the pension program.
University Degree in a relevant field
Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is an asset
Certified Benefits designation (CEBS) is an asset
Must have excellent knowledge of Performance Equity Units and Restricted Equity Units, and a complete understanding of equity plans
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex business periodicals, technical procedures, and government legislation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented with excellent accuracy
Proven track record of successfully completing challenging projects within strict deadlines
Proficient in Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint
Experience with Solium administration is an asset
Experience using an HRIS system (Ceridian is an asset)
Previous experience managing payroll is an asset
