Assigns salary bands for new positions and examines salary bands using internal equity and external market data from salary surveys and other sources.
Calculates salaries for new hires, promotions, and transfers using San Jacinto College Compensation procedures.
Confirms and/or corrects salary, stipend, and position information on Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAF).
Assigns new position numbers for approved positions in Banner and updates position information in Banner including: title changes, band changes, etc.
Completes external salary surveys using internal information sources including custom reports, Banner, recruiting data, and historical internal data.
Confirms all required information on Extra Service Agreements (ESA) meets established guidelines and submits for board approval.
Conducts surveys of other colleges in compensation matters via phone or email.
Serves as point of contact in major compensation projects involving outside vendors.
Assists Compensation Manager and Vice Chancellor of Human Resources in developing, updating, and recommending changes to San Jacinto College's Compensation Policy and Procedures.
Answers all employee questions about job descriptions. Trains leaders and employees how to write job descriptions. Collects employee job descriptions for electronic job description system.
Responds to other colleges requests for compensation information via email or phone.
Calculate new faculty salaries for education advancement using San Jacinto College Compensation procedures.
Provides departments and individuals with requested job descriptions.
Assists in various human resources projects.
Rolls budget information over for new fiscal year in Banner.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of federal and state salary and wage laws and awareness of pending legislation regarding compensation matters.
Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office programs; advanced skill level in Excel.
Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and concepts.
Salary Grade: 25

Master's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
Two years experience in Compensation.
Five years experience in Compensation.
Certified Compensation Specialist (CCP) by World at Work or other accredited institution.
