The Division of Human Resources at the University of Arizona is seeking a Compensation Analyst. The successful candidate will participate in the development, administration and maintenance of compensation programs to attract and retain outstanding employees. (S)he will lend analytic expertise to the upcoming University Career and Compensation Architecture project. On an ongoing basis, the incumbent will participate in the annual benchmarking process, identify and participate in salary surveys and work with internal and external clients to determining appropriate pay for positions.
The Compensation Team within the Division of Human Resources at the University of Arizona is a dynamic group of individuals working to maintain and improve all aspects of compensation and support the university’s compensation philosophy. From an overarching career architecture project to keeping the university up-to-date with compensation-related legal requirements the team maintains a fast-paced, supportive, creative, and collaborative working environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Serves as a subject matter expert on the UA Career and Compensation Architecture.
Utilizes JDXpert to develop job descriptor content and revises the Career Architecture, as needed.
Conducts analysis of compensation programs and advises on program changes. Partners with clients to solve compensation related needs within their client groups.
Develops, implements, and evaluates training and communication programs designed to increase overall understanding, awareness, and knowledge of compensation related subjects.
Utilizes Excel to prepare financial analysis of changes to existing compensation programs and prepares executive summaries and proposals.
Utilizes MarketPay to manage salary survey participation to ensure maximum coverage of UA jobs.
Conducts internal audits and provides interpretations of laws, policies, and procedures affecting compensation to ensure compliance; identifies areas of potential exposure and/or liability and recommends appropriate action.
Participates in efforts to conduct annual benchmarking of UA jobs and provides recommendations to leadership on salary increase budgets, market conditions, strategic opportunities, and salary structure movement.
Works collaboratively and consultatively with other Human Resources staff members, peer Universities and other liaisons to provide assessment, recommendations, and support of compensation initiatives.
May participate in modeling variable pay programs or focused studies on unique populations including administration and faculty.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources Management, or related field and 3 years of professional experience in the analysis and administration of compensation programs with an emphasis on market-based job family architecture; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Demonstrates critical thinking and mathematical skills.
Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner ensuring timely completion of assigned projects.
Working knowledge of HRIS systems, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
Experience performing compensation program administration in a higher education or research institution.
Experience with MarketPay & JDXpert
Senior SHRM, HRCI, and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.
