The Senior Director, Total Rewards has primary responsibility for leading the strategic design, development, implementation and tactical delivery of Jackson Hewitt’s compensation, benefits and HRIS. This role is responsible for conducting expert analysis and presenting innovative approaches in order to: deliver competitive benefits packages while managing costs, enable attraction and retention of key talent by offering competitive and thoughtful compensation programs, and developing strategies to make HRIS an efficient and effective enabler for business information and core HR practices.
This position requires strong leadership, problem solving and influencing skills, expertise and strategic thought leadership in total reward programs.
Major responsibilities of the position are listed below:
Report to and work closely with the VP, Human Resources to develop and deliver competitive compensation and benefits programs across the organization
Lead the Total Rewards team (HRIS, Payroll and Benefits) to effectively administer and deliver total rewards programs, benefits, payroll and HRIS
Continually evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of the Company’s benefits, retirement, and compensation programs and procedures to ensure that they support the Company’s strategic business objectives and serve our employee population across the organization
Recommend program and design changes to executive management in relation to the company’s strategic objectives and in terms of perceived benefit to employees, cost, legislative requirements, organizational culture, and the retention and recruitment and retention of talent;
Participate in Employee Benefits Oversight Committee meetings and provides valuable input and data to drive decisions related to the employee benefits program
Develop and participates in the implementation of variable pay programs designed to place greater emphasis on the link between performance and pay;
Partner with divisions and departments to examine their Human Resources issues related to benefits, compensation, data and reporting. Works with business partners to develop programs to enhance the company’s competitive position in the marketplace;
Ensure that the company maintains equity internally, and is externally competitive with wages and salaries;
Design and implement effective total rewards communication and education strategies with management and employees;
Evaluate and compare existing company compensation and benefits with those of other employers by analyzing plans, surveys, and other sources of information. Plans, develops, and/or participates in area and industry surveys, and leverages survey information as a key input to develop specific recommendations for review by management.
Prepare and execute, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit program. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
Actively participate in the selection, implementation and maintenance of enhanced technology and its link to a more streamlined HR database, including but not limited to electronic interfaces to support payroll processing, web portal access, and benefits vendor data transmissions;
Oversee the ongoing maintenance of HRIS data to support timely and accurate employee onboarding, reporting, payroll processing and benefit plan administration. Works with other HR and IT leaders to develop, monitor and refine processes to facilitate the smooth flow of information reported by managers and employees into the HRIS;
Ensure statutory compliance with FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA and HIPAA legislation, and all legal reporting for compensation, EEO, etc.;
Manage and administer FMLA for the company

Experience & Qualifications
10+ years Human Resources management experience, specifically overseeing benefit plan strategy, design, and administration and/or compensation. 5+ years team leadership experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; MBA preferred but not required.
Significant compensation and benefits plan strategic and technical experience, as well as tax and regulatory knowledge.
Knowledgeable on legislation impacting pay programs, maintaining awareness of economic and pay practice trends within industry.
Experience in designing and implementing total reward policies and procedures, and ensuring legal compliance with PPACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ADA.
Strong knowledge and experience in driving strategy and overseeing the administration of fully-insured group health (medical, dental, prescription, and vision) plans, disability plans, Health Savings Accounts, Life and Disability, and 401(k) retirement plans.
Proven strategic capability; organizational savvy; ability to move seamlessly from strategy to tactics.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent priorities and lead/develop people; proven capability leading and managing at all organizational levels.
Highly accountable, with a keen attention to detail and organizational skills;
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written and oral, for effective interaction with all levels within the company and with external partners including vendors and providers.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines with accurate and detailed results.
Experience with Ceridian strongly desired, but not required.
