Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) seeks an experienced, dynamic and collaborative Vice President of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be a leader who embraces BBNC’s values, and who inspires confidence, trust and optimism with a proven track record for developing innovative and strategic HR solutions for a diverse and growing workforce. As part of BBNC’s leadership team, our next Vice President of Human Resources will help shape an HR culture with policies and practices that attract, grow, and retain top talent across BBNC’s 80 subsidiaries. BBNC is looking for an individual to be a positive culture carrier who puts the “human” in Human Resources.

As Vice President of Human Resources, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape a corporate-wide business and long-term strategy, while developing supporting workforce strategies across our subsidiaries. We seek a leader who can consult, advise, and coach our corporate and subsidiary managers and their employees on best practices related to employee and organizational development. The ideal candidate will rise to the challenge of working with subsidiary managers of multi-location businesses around the nation and understand that each of their unique internal cultures and business models will require innovative and strategic HR solutions.
The Vice President of Human Resources leads HR strategic development and tactical execution across the enterprise in support of the Bristol Bay Native Corporation mission. The incumbent must be an advocate for the company and its 4,000+ employees; must be an expert in HR operations and be a bridge between corporate and subsidiaries; must be trusted by all; must be legally compliant, ethical and take the high road at all times.
This opportunity is best suited for an experienced HR leader who recognizes the difference between being a colleague and a supervisor. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence with the ability to positively interact with a broad range of personalities internally and at the subsidiary level.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is required, Master’s degree preferred.
Ten years of experience in Human Resources, with at least five years in a senior HR leadership position. Experience must include demonstrable success of strategic oversight and implementing and managing Human Resources policies, programs, and practices across the spectrum of Human Resources functions.
Ability to travel extensively and on short notice throughout Alaska and across the US.
Preferred Education and Experience
Professional certifications to include PHR, SPHR or SHRM-SCP, or working towards this certification.
Experience managing a Federal Employee Health Benefit program, self-funded medical plan, 401(k) plan and deferred compensation plan.
Experience managing positions included in the Davis Bacon Act and Service Contract Act (SCA)
Experience working within the Alaska economy, preferably with or for an Alaska Native Corporation.
Experience working in a corporate-subsidiary business model.
