REPORTS TO TITLE: Director, People – Total Rewards
Job Overview: The Compensation Consultant works in partnership with HR Operations and People Team Business Partners on major compensation initiatives and programs at Ambry Genetics. Collaborates on the design, development and implementation of compensation strategy, policies, procedures and guidelines. The Compensation Consultant is instrumental in the development and ongoing administration, design, analysis and implementation of various compensation programs, including salary structure design and modeling, complex costing scenarios and incentive plans. Uses analytical rigor to interpret quantitative and qualitative information to draw conclusions in a logical, systematic way.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the development of internal policies, standards and guidelines for compensation related programs. Conducts data collection and analysis for special projects.
Ensures pay structures are competitive, equitable and cost effective. Conducts market analysis, pay and classification reviews. Develops compensation recommendations and costing.
Analyzes jobs and their relationship to each other to ensure internal equity. Prepares cost analysis and pay grade recommendations.
Coordinates compensation activities with Benefits, HRIS, Talent Acquisition, and Payroll to ensure consistent administration of all pay programs and practices.
Participates in audits to ensure adherence to compensation programs, policies, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Specific Projects (include but are not limited to):
The development and reconstruction of the Career Track titling system;
Identifying a representative group/number of “benchmark” jobs;
Verifying and determining market rates for benchmark jobs;
Slotting non-benchmark jobs based on internal comparison to other similar jobs within the organization;
Creating salary grades/broad bands;
Developing compensation guidelines/policies for all types of pay actions; specifically addressing how jobs progress through (horizontally) and between (vertically) salary grades/broad bands;
Determining any “gap(s)” between our current state of pay practices and the new structure/compensation guidelines;
Participating in M&A analysis by evaluating differences between compensation/benefit plans;
Designing, modeling and administering incentive plans.
EDUCATION and Knowledge:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Science or related field; or equivalent education and/or experience.
Demonstrated ability to interpret salary survey data and abstract pertinent information and reach sound conclusions from a variety of data sources.
Working knowledge of information systems, especially hardware/software applications, and their application to human resources systems. Knowledge of and proficiency in computer skills and applications especially Microsoft Excel.
Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively, courteously and tactfully with difficult situations and/or people to identify issues and solve problems.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and convey information effectively in verbal, written and electronic communications.
Ability to independently prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines with complete, accurate information and complete analysis of issues.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation; 5 years related compensation experience including data collection and analysis, working knowledge of compensation systems, wage & hour laws, exempt classifications, job evaluation methodology, and principals of wage/salary administration.
Additional Salary Information: Temporary 4 month contract position
