The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Compensation Analyst for its Human Capital and Development department. This position is responsible for performing and assisting with various duties and projects associated with the design and administration of compensation programs, policies, and initiatives, and acting as an internal consultant and resource on compensation issues and needs for other Human Resources staff, executives, management, and employees.
This position will be responsible for:
Creating or updating job descriptions in partnership with managers, evaluating jobs and determining FLSA classification statuses, and market pricing jobs to assign pay grades as part of the position requisition process;
Analyzing candidate and salary information during the recruiting process to develop recommended offer amounts for new hires and internal position changes;
Presenting recommendations to hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team and address any concerns or issues;
Assisting with the annual salary increase and promotion processes;
Participating in annual salary surveys by gathering and organizing employee and position data for third party vendors;
Analyzing purchased survey data on an annual basis to ensure market competitiveness;
Coordinating pay grade and salary structure changes as necessary, ensuring that all documentation is updated and communicated;
Maintaining the human resource information system database as it relates to salaries and pay actions; conducting ongoing audits to ensure data integrity and quality assurance. Preparing regular and special ad hoc reports, and conducting analyses on compensation programs, practices, and actions;
Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws and maintain the confidentiality of all HR-related information;
Assisting with developing and delivering communications and other materials to educate managers and employees on compensation programs, policies, and processes;
Assisting with various compensation projects to include program design and analysis;
Providing timely and accurate responses to compensation inquiries regarding programs, policies, and processes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or other related field, or equivalent years of experience strongly preferred;
Minimum of two years of analytical experience required; preferably compensation related experience;
Knowledge of HR and compensation policies and best practices preferred;
Knowledge of federal regulations as they apply to compensation programs and processes, as well as related applicable state laws, along with the ability to apply that knowledge effectively to ensure compliance preferred;
Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information to develop recommendations;
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to excellence and the drive to deliver quality and value-added results and outcomes;
Ability to read and comprehend the content of documents and take appropriate action;
Strong editing and grammar skills;
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of staff as well as other parties/stakeholders involved with the organization;
Strong communication skills with the ability to organize, articulate, and present ideas both verbally and in writing;
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency;
Ability to work independently, as an effective team member, and with all levels of the organization;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Dayforce or other major human resource information system helpful;
Ability to handle information of a confidential nature and ensure that such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner;
An interest in and commitment to animal welfare and protection is highly desired.
