The Benefits & Compensation Specialist is responsible for the administration of benefits management for both hourly and salaried employees including benefit processing for payroll, fielding employee questions, providing reporting requests made by management, third parties, and governmental agencies. This position is responsible for compensation and provides Workday support for the Human Resources department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Resolve issues with weekly insurance carrier files and review discrepancies
Support the design, development, audit and administration of the Company’s benefits portfolio
Review and administer eligibility for 401k match and update Workday
Responsible for bonus, commission and merit increase process in Workday
Responsible for reviewing benefit deductions in payroll for accuracy and makes required adjustments
Coordinate processes for benefits administration, including medical/dental/life insurance, short-term disability (STD),long term disability (LTD) flexible spending accounts (FSA), 401(k) plans and voluntary benefits
Create and maintain benefit documents in Workday and on Synergy
Assist with Workday configuration and administration of annual open enrollment
Provide monthly reporting to broker and insurance carriers
Provide Workday reporting support for ad hoc reporting requests
Support Workday testing for updates and create job aids for Workday processes
Review employee initiated benefit changes for approval
Complete salary surveys and market price jobs
Back up for Workers Compensation and Leave administration
Service employee questions related to benefits
Coordinate special projects as needed
Ensure benefits processes are in compliance with federal and state regulations and Bell Partners Inc. Human Resource Policies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong verbal/written communication skills required, inclusive of experience in communicating Benefit programs
Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500 filings and other related state and federal regulations and reporting requirements involving benefits
Must possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Workday, or other related web-based tools preferred
Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Must be able to clearly communicate both orally and in writing
Must be able to understand directives both orally and in writing
Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible
Must be resourceful and well organized
Must have excellent analytical skills
Must be flexible, able to manage multiple priorities and able to shift resources and priorities as required
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Must be able to work in a general office environment
Education and Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline or equivalent experience required; SPHR, PHR, CEBS certification, CCP, or CBP designation preferred
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated and applicable HR/benefits experience in a multi-state, multi-facility program
